The Swiss Ambassador Paul Garnier, accompanied by a delegation from the embassy and members of the Swiss Club in Alexandria, was very warmly received at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina by the Director of the library’s antiquities museum, Dr. Hussein Bassir, and his team.
The visit offered a fascinating journey into Egypt and Alexandria’s history experienced through the beauty of the collections displayed at the library and its antiquities museum.
Ambassador Garnier & Embassy members also visited the successfully completed project in Alexandria that has provided 400 refugees, mostly Syrians, with grants and taught them entrepreneurial skills to help them set up their own businesses. The project was implemented by UNHCR Egypt and Caritas Alexandria Egypt. After visiting the Caritas Alexandria office, the delegation went to the sites of a shop for knitting and a shop for manufacturing restaurant utilities set up by beneficiaries of the Embassy’s project
Finaly, Ambassador Garnier and Embassy members spent a lovely afternoon with the Swiss Club in Alexandria, founded back in 1858. They got a chance to get to know better the members of the Club over a meal by the sea and participated in the Annual General Assembly
