The New Swiss Cemetery in Cairo

                          2018

The Swiss Cemetery has been completely changed in the past few months, the previous care taker is now hired again under the same arrangement which allows him to use part of the empty space for his own benefit in addition to a monthly payment.

The photos above show a new clean place with plantation properly attended for; there is still more work to be done specially with restoring the broken tomb stones.

The Swiss Club General Assembly of May 31 2017 renewed its commitment to maintain the cemetery; the water pump is fixed and the total expenses costed 7000 Egyptian Pounds so far (about 330 Swiss Francs). The monthly payment of the care taker has been increased to Egy Pds 1500 (up from the previous ridiculous small amount of only Egy Pds 400).

Given the limited resources of the Swiss Club in Cairo, continued donations will be needed to repair the cemetery walls, the broken tomb stones, running costs as well as further increase the care taker monthly payment.

Please contact the Swiss Club in Cairo for your donations.
