Who is Sherif Loutfi?

 

and what is this Pan Am Adventure?

Sherif Loutfi is an Egyptian-Swiss ex-banker.

He is now enjoying retirement between his two homes and families in Cairo and Zürich.

His passion is riding motorcycles.

 

Sherif will attempt to cross the Americas from South to North during the spring/summer of 2016.

His father, Gamal Loutfi born July 1934 in Alexandria, is a professional pilot whose career began in the early fifties. For the last thirty years of his professional life, he flew the presidential plane as the Chief Pilot for the three Egyptian Presidents Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak before retiring 1997.

 

His mother, Esther Camenzind, was born June 1934 in Zürich and worked as an Airline Agent.

 

Sherif's parents met in Zürich 1952  where his father was in high school before studiyng aviation in London. They were married by 1955. Sherif was born August 19th 1957 in Alexandria, he went to English school in Cairo, and by 1981 graduated from Ain Shams university with a B.Sc. degree in Business Administration.

 

Sherif moved back to Zürich 1981 where he started working in banking sector for 25 years ending his carreer succesfully in Cairo for another 5 years where he held the post of Head UBS followed by CEO Credit Swiss.

 

Sherif is today in his late fifties, but looks much younger thanks to his healthy life style. He acquired the taste for adventure at a young age, he flew solo in the early eighties as a student pilot at The Egyptian Flying Institute in Embaba, he is a certified diver however his major passion is with motorbikes a passion which developed much further offering him the opportunity to travel all over Egypt and Europe as far as the Nordic Circle.

 

Sherif's latest adventure took place in the summer of 2014 when he went on a record breaking solo voyage from Zürich Switzerland heading to Tokyo Japan covering over 14,000 km through nine countries in 69 days carrying both flags – Swiss and Egyptian.

 

Sherif is attempting a new world record starting from Ushuaia Argentina (known as the End of the World) all the way up north crossing South, Central and North America until reaching Anchorage Alaska USA, that is a whapping minimum 28 thousand km over about 14 countries in at least 120 days.

 

Sherif will also be carrying both flags – Swiss and Egyptian, and a message of peace.

 

This adventure is scheduled to start upcoming April first 2016.
