The first building, depicting the famous Grossmünster church in Zürich, is the most famous church in Switzerland and the cradle of reformation initiated by Father Ulrich Zwingli in 1522.
​
The second building, representing the temple of Abu Simble located 230 km south of Aswan, is one of the oldest and largest temples in the world built built by Ramses II about 3300 years ago.
​
According to legend, the Grossmünster church was reportedly built by order of Emperor Charlmagne (Charles the Great) in honour of the three Egyptian martyrs and Coptic Orthodox and Roman Catholic Saints Felix, Regula and Exuperantius of the Theban Legion. The current structure was completed 1220. The Abu Simbel temple was discovered by the Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812 during a trip up the Nile.

The theme of my book and these two famous historical figures on its front cover were chosen to remind us of the long forgotten links between our two countries.

Das erste ist die berühmte Grossmünster Kirche in Zürich und die Wiege der Reformation eingeleitet von Ulrich Zwingli im Jahr 1522.

Das zweite Bauwerk, der Tempel von Abu Simbel, 230 km südlich von Assuan, ist einer der ältesten und größten Tempel der Welt, erbaut von Ramses II vor etwa 3300 Jahren.
​
Der Legende nach wurde die Grossmünster Kirche im Auftrag von Kaiser Karl der Große gebaut zu Ehren der drei ägyptischen Märtyrer und koptisch-orthodoxen und römisch-katholischen Heiligen Felix, Regula und Exuperantius, Angehörige der legendären Thebäischen Legion. Die derzeitige Struktur der Kirche wurde in 1220 abgeschlossen. Der Tempel von Abu Simbel wurde vom Schweizer Forscher Johann Ludwig Burckhardt im Jahre 1812 während einer Reise auf dem Nil entdeckt.

Das Thema meines Buches und diese zwei berühmten historischen Gebäude auf dem vorderen Buchdeckel wurden gewählt, um an die längst vergessenen Verbindungen zwischen unseren beiden Ländern zu erinnern.

Selon la légende, le Grossmünster aurait été érigé sur par ordre de l'Empereur Charlemagne en l'honneur des trois martyrs égyptiens et saints coptes orthodoxes et catholiques, Félix, Regula et Exuperantius, membres de la légendaire Llégion thébaine. La structure actuelle de l'église a été achevée en 1220. Le temple d'Abou Simbel, quant à lui, a été découvert par l'explorateur Suisse Johann Ludwig Burckhardt en 1812 lors d'un voyage sur le Nil qui devait le mener au Soudan.

Le thème de mon livre et ces deux fameux (bâtiments historiques) monuments en couverture de l'ouvrage ont été choisis afin de rappeler les liens depuis longtemps oubliés entre nos deux pays.
