Swiss Ambassador to Egypt Paul Garnier is in Aswan today for the closing ceremony of the Water Efficiency and Economic Support project supported by Switzerland. Since 2014, the project has been helping farmers across 11 villages in Nasr El Nuba and Kom Ombo districts in Aswan to rehabilitate and maintain their water irrigation canals.
The project has been instrumental in helping raising the yield of farmers’ crops as well in using more efficient irrigation practices. Furthermore the project was successful in enhancing the participation of women and youth in the community and ownership.
During the visit, Ambassador Garnier had a chance to engage with the local community and discuss the project’s impact. Children performed traditional Nubian songs and dances to welcome his visit
