Pyramidion Unearthed at Saqqara

The Swiss-French Archaeological Mission unearthed a pyramidion at Saqqara last Thursday.
Dr. Philippe Collombert, Head of the Mission from Geneva University added that the pyramidion was uncovered near the Queen Ankhnespepy II pyramid, wife of Pepy I. The pyramidion is 130 cm high, 110 cm long and made of pink granite.

The Saqqara plateau is a vast, ancient burial ground in Egypt, serving as the necropolis for the Ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis and is most famous for The Pyramid of Djoser. King Pepi I was the 3rd king of the sixth dynasty and ordered expeditions to Sinai and Nubia
