Switzerland invests 1.3 million USD into the HAYAT Project phase 2 “Inclusive and sustainable local economic development in Upper Egypt”, which was signed yesterday in an event with the presence of the Minister of Local Development Hesham El-Sherif, the Swiss Ambassador Markus Leitner, Sohag Governor Ayman Abdel Moneim and Mrs. Giovanna Ceglie, UNIDO Regional Representative, the implementing partner of the project.
The project, which aims at strengthening economic security in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Sohag, will create employment opportunities and boost productivity through a variety of activities, such as counselling of micro-entrepreneurs and agricultural training for farmers. The project is based on the success of the Swiss-funded Hayat Project Phase 1 which provided the same benefits to over 64,000 people in Minya.
