After years of challenging restoration work to repair damage caused by a terrorist attack in 2014, Cairo’s Museum of Islamic Art was officially reopened today in an event attended by President Sisi, high-ranking Egyptian officials and foreign diplomats, including Ambassador of Switzerland Markus Leitner.
The successful restoration was done through cooperation between Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Switzerland, Italy and UNESCO. The museum contains over 4000 objects including valuable pieces. Switzerland is proud to have been part of this restoration and of supporting Egypt’s efforts to protect its rich heritage
