Swiss Water Program Aswan

The new water pumps for the residents of Nasiriya Aswan just arrived.

These pumps are part of the Swiss Water Project in Aswan, a project which started December 15, 2012 and is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The project aims at providing quality drinking water benefiting about 90,000 people and raising awareness for more efficient water usage practices.

This is one of the many other Swiss projects in Aswan Governorate, such as the Swiss-funded “Youth Employment in Aswan” project, implemented by CARE International in Egypt valued in total at 1.28 million Egyptian pounds, to selected agriculture cooperatives in Aswan. The zero-interest rate loans offered to the selected 18 business ventures will provide employment to hundreds of people in Aswan, Nasr El Nuba, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Wadi el No’ra (with focus on improving the economic livelihoods of young women and men in the Aswan Governorate by promoting entrepreneyrship in areas such as agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
