Rosario is a major port city 300 km up the river Parana with about one million population in a growing metropolitan area.

The city is a major railroad terminal and shipping center fstop is the first stop of the 4,000 km leg that will end in Lima Peru in about two weeks.

The National Flag Memorial is a massive riverside complex featuring an obelisk, commemorating the historic first raising of the national flag during Argentina's 19th-century War of Independence.

Due to bad weather, Sherif enjoyed the city for an extra day and of course an extra fish diner.

Friendly hotel staff made the stay even more pleasant.

Monday May 2 - leg 02.02

Ceres - 450 km

Sherif extended his ride to reach Ceres instead of Sunchales adding a further 162 km to reach this peacfull 20k inhabitants small town ..

Welcoming committee at the gas station at the town entrance ..

Friendly reception at the hotel ..

No fish diner ..

Tuesday May 2 - leg 02.03

Santiago del Estero - 345 km

Yesterday a comfortable ride of 336 km's .... from Santiago del Estero to San Jose de Metan Bypassing the bigger city of San Miguel de Tucuman.

I prefer the villages then the cities, first, you get closer to the simple people and secondly, you avoid getting in and further out with my heavy White Lady.

A trauma getting out of B. Aires having several routes and exits even the best GPS won't support. The worst was 2014 in/out Moscow and ditto Tokyo. A slight mistake costs another hour correcting the error .. nerves and if hot/humid the synthetic gear sticks on your skin .. a long wash later ..ليفة

The city of Estero was more of an urban with less character and you can feel the poverty. Found a nice hotel (2nd choice) were I could park the bike.

As of S.J de Metan ... a village I nearly missed ... with less then 30,000 inhabitants. .. entering I thought .. where the hell will I sleep until I reached this modern hotel invisible fm any corner ...

The best part here is meeting an Egyptian .. Mohamed Tarek .. Engineer married to an Argentinian living in Salta and passing through .. we had dinner with his colleague fm Marrocco and a local. Reminded me of .. Alaa Sheet .. I met in a tiny village central Russia on the borders to Kazakhstan ...

Had some pic's with 2 curious Police officers on their bike.

What I didn't mention was Tuesday's drive from Ceres to Santiago de Estero taking the shorter but worse road, route 34 instead of 9 ... I only had camion .. trucks .. and bad roads.

A line-up of camion that never ended ... both in front and behind me ... including facing me ... all this for nearly 300 km's ..!
Worse then the Ring road in Cairo or the Agricultural road to Alex ...
Keeping the trucks ... the holes in the street and some winds all in check. Happy it's over.

Egyptian dinner in north Argentina in one of the smallest village's

Sherif met an Egyptian passing through as he entered the hotel, his impressions about his stay in San Jose are found in the previous box.

Nothing much to report except beginning his climb now reaching 3,000 feet as well as reaching the 5,000 km Mark.

Typical small town nice quiet hotel and friendly reception.

Wednesday May 4 - leg 02.04

San Jose de Metan - 324 km

سان خوزيه دي ماتان ال بورم ماركا فيها طلعه كمان

هيطلع لتمان تلاف قدم ارتفاع و فيها ألفين من السكان

البلد دي زادت اهميه اما صلحوا الطرق شويه

فوصلت الأرجنتين الي شيلي و المحيط الهادي بسهوله عاديه

فيها حيوانات شرسه و غزلان و مواقع اثريه من زمان

ونقطه انطلاق للرحلات فزودت أهميتها تاني كمان

دي اخر وقفه قبل تعديه الحدود فيها تحدي و صمود

لان الارتفاع اربع تلاف و الأكسجين بيكون محدود

و بالهوا في الوش هيعوز مجهود و طابور تعديه الجمارك المعهود

بس احنا واثقين فالسندباد لانه بطل و أداها و اودود

Reached Pumamarca through Jujuy after a good drive. Took the advise and drove further the 22 km's to Tilcara (adding the extra 44 km's) but only consuming less then the fuel I would have had left if i would have driven direct fm Jujuy and consumed getting here (over 55 km's away). No gas station tomorrow for a long distance.
Further upwards to over
4 000 mtrs in a snake style climb.
Pumamarca is a mini village inside some sand and Stoney with حارة style streets!!
